Sogang University Business School has established a research hub that integrates management knowledge with research, education, and consulting. Marking the start of 2026, Sogang University announced the opening of the Sogang Institute for Sustainable Management Innovation (SISMI), led by Director Park Youngseok, and has officially commenced its operations.

A Platform-Based Research Institute Connecting Research, Education, and Consulting

The Sogang Institute for Sustainable Management Innovation operates based on a research and education network involving alumni and current students of the Executive Ph.D. (E-Ph.D.) program at Sogang Business School. In addition to traditional research-centered functions, the institute aims for a platform-based operating model that links the dissemination of research results with field applications.

Operation of Education, Research, and Consulting Divisions

The institute consists of three divisions: Education, Research, and Consulting.

The Education division operates non-degree management education programs. It plans to co-run a Post-Doctoral education program in collaboration with Southern Connecticut University in the United States. Additionally, in response to recent discussions on corporate governance, the division has established a professional training course for female independent directors and operates education and training programs in connection with relevant committees. The Sogang Venture Academy, designed for venture business CEOs, is structured as a coaching program focusing on current issues at each stage of corporate growth.

The Research division supports doctoral-level researchers through various methods, such as research professorships and the operation of research centers, depending on the scale and nature of the project. Key research topics include AI-based manufacturing innovation, the development of sustainability diagnostic tools for platform companies, and AI-based healthcare (nursing) business models.

Centered on E-Ph.D. personnel, the Consulting division performs activities linking consulting and research on corporate management issues. It plans to expand its scope of activities through future cooperation with the Sogang University Pangyo Campus.

Release of Student-Led Sustainability Report

Upon its opening, the institute released the Sogang University Sustainability Report. This report was produced in a manner where undergraduate students conducted the entire process, including investigation, interviews, editing, and design of sustainability activities on campus. The institute explained that this student-participatory production method is significant in that it systematically organized sustainability activities within the campus.
